Hank Bardel Proposes His Legislative Agenda
FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE; HANK BARDEL, GREEN PARTY CANDIDATE FOR THE US CONGRESS FROM THE 11TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OF NYS , PROPOSES HIS IMMEDIATE LEGISLATIVE AGENDA IF ELECTED.
The United States is involved in a war in Afghanistan that is over 10 years old, our longest war to date. Our troops are suffering many casualties because of it. They’re returning home with missing arms and leg, serious psychological problems or in body bags.
We have a terrible healthcare system. Forty seven million people in the United States have no health insurance. We spend 17.4% of our economy on health care. The United Nation’s World Health Organization ranks the United States 37th (behind Costa Rica) in quality of health care
Global warming is responsible for terrible weather resulting in an increase in hurricanes and tornadoes. Two thirds of our country is suffering from drought conditions which will lead to a rise in food prices.
Our education system is in very bad shape. We’re laying off teachers, while increasing the size of classes. The student loan debt in this country is set to hit a trillion dollars.
We have an official unemployment rate of 8.3% at the present time. This doesn’t include those unemployed workers who have given up looking for a job. Unemployment could be as high as 16% – 17% of the workforce.
Eleven million families own houses that are worth less than their mortgages. Millions of families are in danger of foreclosure and 3.5 million people are homeless.
My immediate Legislative Agenda will be to sponsor and support the following laws:
